AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONS By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, December 7. The Australian Olympic swimming champions, Misses Frances Bult and Claire Dennis, took part in a second carnival in Auckland to-night. In the 220 yards test race. Miss Bult assumed the lead from the start and swimming strongly won without being attended by five yards. Her time 2min 44 3-ssec, bettered the New Zealand record held by Miss Marie Farquhar by 1 2-ssec. Miss Mona Levdon was second and Misses Farquhar and Edna Rainey dead heated for third. Miss Bult also won the 50 yards scratch race by a yard in 28 2-5. This time equalled Miss Ena Stockley’s Dominion record. Miss Sylvia Grange was second and Miss Rainey third. Although beaten in the 100 yards scratch race by J. Magee. Auckland men's champion, Miss Dennis earned the admiration of the spectators for her wonderfully plucky battle. In an exciting finish she lost to Magee by a foot. Her time 77 3-ssec was the fastest registered by a woman in the Dominion.
