"The Daily Herald’s” diplomatic correspondent states that a private message from Signor Mussolini to Herr Hitler informed the Nazi leader that Italy had decided to march troops into Austria, if Herr Hitler made any move to annex Austria. General Goering, as the result, is making a post-haste flight to Rome to confer with the Duce; Goering also receiving a warning that German aggression was on the verge of embroiling Italy and Jugo-Slavia in war. “The Daily Herald” adds: Signor Mussolini has already received from Dr. Dollfuss permission to send troops to Austria if the Nazis cross the frontier. An Italian army corps has been moved nearer the frontier. This has set the Little Entente in ferment. The Jugo-Slavian army of 180,000 will be mobilised if the Italians cross the Austrian border.
