“CUTS” NOT TO BE RESTORED. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 7. Mr A. S. Richards (Lab., Roskill) asked in the House of Representatives to-day whether in view of the example of several commercial houses of repute and also of some local bodies and other employees in recently restoring the 10 per cent, salary and wages cuts, the Prime Minister would state whether he would take steps to restore the cuts of all civil servants by at least 10 per cent, before Christmas. 1933. He said the Prime Minister had recently stated that trade and industry were definitely on the improve and such improvement could be claimed to be of a permanent character. Mr Forbes said that the state of the public finances would not permit of increases on the lines suggested oy Mr Richards.
