A CLERK’S DEATH.
By Telegraph—Press Association BLENHEIM, November 7.
Hugh Wedde, about 22, employed as a ledger clerk in Wright, Stephenson’s office, was found dead in the firm’s strong-room this afternoon, with h rifle beside him. The only other person in the o.'fice at the time was the typist, Miss Marple, who heard a shot and made the tragic discovery. Wedde was a popular local boy and was in the best of spirits at the office this morning. NOTES. zzzzzzzz At the popular week-end fixture at the Scottish Hall on Saturday evening one of the many novelties provided was a “snow storm” and although the downpour was of short duration “snowballing” was much in evidence and provided general enjoyment. The winners of the “polar” expedition were Miss Murphy and Mr Mulcahy. A delightful programme of old-time dances and a well-controlled programme together with excellent music, were features. The prize winners of the principal novelty dances were Miss Galbraith and Mr and Mrs Hosking, while specials were awarded Misses Allan, G. Reid, Renton, and Mr J. Graham.
