FARMERS’ UNION
MAUNGATI WOMEN’S DIVISION. The newly formed Maungati branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union, held its first social in Mr Macdonald’s granary, which had been beautifully decorated with greenery, and the stage effectively arranged as a drawing room. The first part of the evening was taken up with two one-act plays produced by Mrs Mills, and acted by the St. Andrews Dramatic Society. Those who took part were Misses Mills, McGibbon and Copeland, and Mrs C. Johnstone and Messrs Mills, Wilkes and Bishop. An apology was read from Mrs 11. Elworthy (president), who was unavoidably absent. The committee wish to thank the following:—Mrs Mill and party, Mr and Mrs Macdonald, Mr H. Fenn, and all others who helped to make the gathering a success. A fancy dance was given by Miss Johnstone, and Miss Marion Evans contributed musical items. Supper was provided by the members, and dancing concluded a most enjoyable evening. The lucky spot dance was won by Miss Ivy Davidson and Mr Calder.
