Yashima Maru (946 tons) sank nearing Kobe. It is reported that fiftynine passengers are missing, including two British women, wives of officers of the warship Eagle—Milner Barry and B. J. Prevost. Out of a total of 124 passengers, sixty were rescued. The damage along the ooast is enormous. Over a thousand fishermen are missing. ANOTHER SHIP LOST. FEW PASSENGERS RESCUED. At 1 o’clock to-day, the Yashima Maru, an old torpedo boat, converted to a passenger liner, running between Beppu Spa and Osaka, suddenly broke up and sank within six miles, en route to Kobe. She carried 154 passengers. Several steamers are searching, but the weather is violent. Few have been picked up so far.
