GERMANY LEAVES THE LEAGUE
FORMAL NOTICE TO GENEVA UNOFFICIAL ATTACK ON RECORD United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright (Received October 22, 6.30 p.m.) GENEVA. October 21. The German Consul has presented formal notice of Germany's withdrawal from the League of Nations. SCOPE OF THE COVENANT. TWO YEARS' NOTICE REQUIRED. British Official Wireless RUGBY. October 20. Berlin messages state that the text of Germany's notice to the League is not being published until after the receipt. Article I. paragraph three, of tre Covenant, which deals with withdrawal from the League, reads: "Any member of the League may, after two years’ notice of intention so to do, withdraw from the League, provided all its international obligations and all its obligations under the Covenant shall have been fulfilled at the time of withdrawal.” Attack on the League. A semi-official broadcast, referring to the withdrawal from the League, describes the League as an “antiFascist mass meeting,” by allowing itself to be made a platform for Jews and Marxists. The League, in addition to its international failures, lost its last claim to be regarded as a universal orga .ation of the civilised world. Germany will no longer participate in such mass demonstrations, which is a caricature of International co-operation.
