SERIOUS CHARGES
CLAIM FILED AGAINST A PREMIER United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright EDMONTON, September 23. A statement of claim was filed in the Supreme Court of Alberta to-day asking for damages from the Premier, Mr J. E. Brownlee, for alleged seduction of Vivian MacMillan, daughter of Mr Allan MacMillan, a former Mayor of Edson, Alberta. It is alleged that the offences commenced in 1930 when the girl was said to be 18 years old. Mr Brownlee, speaking over the longdistance telephone from Ottawa, where he is attending as a member of the Canadian Royal Commission on banking, said: “While one regrets to have to face a case of this kind, it will enable me to come to grips with rumours that have been spread for some weeks. There is not a word of truth in the allegations.”
