September 18. An application was made to the Court of Appeal by Mrs F. J. Seymour, now of Italy, widow, to reduce an anuity of £350 paid out of the estate of E. W. Roper to Mrs C. M. Preston, his daughter. Roper's will bequeathed the greater part of his estate to Canterbury University College, subject to a provision that the income therefrom was to be paid to Mrs Seymour during her lifetime. In 1927 an order was made under the Family Protection Act for the payment of an annuity to Preston, the annual income from the estate then being nearly £llOO, As the estate is now producing only £ooo a year, Mrs Seymour appeals to have the annuity reduced. It was intimated that Canterbury College would not be represented at the hearing. Decision was reserved.
