Young girls can adopt the Empire mode in the evening, and it is best for that time of day. Another change that has been slowly .coming is that the backless dress is now slightly demode. We shall still see plently of lovely backless models, but they are no longer the smartest choice. A t prettier line Is the lower front decolletage, and this is noticeable in the new square-cut evening frocks. For day-time the neck-line is so varied that it Is a case of “Do as you please.” The cowl is still persistent, and is, like the fichu, a wonderfully easy and pleasing line for the organdies and chiffons of summer. The ‘‘Bateau” neck suits certain styles and individuals, while a deep V becomes anyone. With high-necked blouses we see the polo and Peter Pan collars again. They arc always good for the young and as accessories to sports clothes.
