WONDERS OF RADIO
SUCCESS OF NATIONAL FIELD DAY. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 12. The Radio Society of Great Britain held a national field day, when 37 amateurs, scattered throughout the United Kingdom, with portable wireless sets, participated in a competition to see who could make the greatest number of contacts with overseas amateurs, extra points being allotted for Empire contacts, especially Australia and New Zealand. The day was successful. One amateur’s portable station made contact with 40 overseas stations. Preliminary returns fail to show contacts with Australia, but two Dunedin stations and also another New Zealand station were heard admirably.
