MID-CANTER BURY LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY MISS J. HORWELL. The first Mid-Canterbury ladies’ championship meeting was completed at Ashburton yesterday. The course was in good order, and the weather was fine, but a keen southerly wind was blowing. The senior championship was won by Miss Jean Horwell. of the Timaru Ladies Club, with an aggregate of 163. Miss M. Beadel (Christchurch) being runner up with 170. The best card ' f the day was returned by Mrs J. C. Templer <Waimate). New Zealand champion, who returned an 83, and finished third with 171. Miss Stevenson (Christchurch) was next with 85. giving her fourth place with an aggregate of 172. Mrs J. T. Smith (Ashburton) won the junior championship with 199. being one up on Miss Brown (Ashburton) and Mrs Montgomery (Christchurch).

Miss Stevenson (Christchurch) won the senior medal match, 85-13—72, with Miss M. Grant (Timaru), 89-10 — 79, second. Miss Buchanan (Christchurch) won the junior medal match, 103-31-72, with Mrs Revell (Timaru), 110-28-82 second. A four-ball match in the afternoon was won by Miss Stevenson and Miss Buchanan (Christchurch), 6 up. TIMARU LADIES CLUB. The following is the draw for today’s bogey match;— Morning.—Mrs Brewer v. The home links Coronation medal and Aotea Roa cup competitions were played throughout New Zealand by members of clubs affiliated to the New j Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union. | The winner of the Coronation medal I was Miss Simpson (Napier), who returned a score five under the scratch score of the course. Mrs J. J. Dalgleish (Miramar) also returned a score five under the scratch score, but lost the tie on a count of the last nine holes. There was also a tie for the Aotea Roa Cup. Miss W. Judge (Amuri) both finished 10 under the scratch score of their respective courses. On a count of the last nine holes, Miss Judge had the better score and wins the cup.
