SCIENCE CONGRESS

MESSAGE FROM LORD RUTHERFORD.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright

VANCOUVER, June 5.

A radio broadcast from Lord Rutherford (London) featured the commencement of the ten day sessions of the Science Congress at Vancouver to-day. Professor T. P. Thompson (Melbourne) gave a highly interesting description of the Hobart smelter, pointing out that Australia was the first that employed the flotation process of ore treatment.

Mr J. O. Elton (International Smelting Company, Salt Lake City), claimed that the flotation system enabled many companies to utilise low grade copper ore, which in many instances was equivalent to the discovery of a new mine of equal extent without development cost.
