WEDDINGS

DARLING—REID. On April 15th, Woodlands Road Methodist Church, which had been prettily decorated by the girl friends of Nessie, elder daughter of Mr J. E. Reid, of Timaru, was the scene of her wedding to Harry, only son of Mr and Mrs W. Darling, of Washdyke. The Rev. H. L, Fiebig performed the ceremony, while Mrs E. Osborne supplied the wedding music. The bride, who -was given away by her father, entered the Church through a guard of honour formed by the Takaina Company of Girl Guides. Ivory satin charmeuse and delicate peau d’ange lace were used for the I bride’s gown. The pointed lace yoke, touched with orange blossom at the V-shaped neckline, extended into lacy j sleeves fitting closely to the wrists, j Folds of satin defined the waistline, { finishing at the back in a large bow, the moulded bodice then shaping to join the panelled skirt. Sprays of orange blossom, which held in place a beautifully embroidered tulle veil, had been worn by the bride’s mother, as had also her dainty white kid shoes. Attending the bride were her sister, Miss Isabel Reid, of Dunedin, and Miss Grace Darling, of Temuka, sister of the bridegroom. Their rose pink georgette frocks -were fashioned >m simple lines, flaring to the ankles : n graceful folds. Primrose velvet flowers trimmed the tiny puff sleeves and the folded neckline, and clustered in the sash at the back. The bridesmaids wore primrose felt hats trimmed with satin ribbon, and flowers of softer toning to match long lace mittens. Their pink crystal necklaces were the gift of the bridegroom and the pink and primrose shower bouquets which they carried, completed a charming picture. Mr Frank Dale, cousin of the groom, acted as best man, while the bride’s brother, Mr Edwin Reid, of Dunedin, carried out the duties of groomsman. On leaving the church, the bride was presented with a satin horseshoe by little Nancy Cooke, of Dunedin, A reception was held In the Church Hali, where the guests were received by Mrs J. Mahan, aunt of the bride, who had chosen a black ring velvet frock, a little cape, and a smart felt hat and she carried a posy of pink begonias. Mrs Darling wore a smart

navy tailored costume and felt hat, and her posy was of red carnations. When Mr and Mrs H. Darling left for the south on their wedding tour, the bride donned an attractive chanel blue ensemble and felt hat to tone. LOUGH—OED. Attractive bridesmaid frocks of peach pink and apple green tints were a background for the wedding gown of a bride who was married during Eastertide at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Point. She was eldest daughter of Mr and J?’’ 5' Oed, Sutherlands, and Jack Reginald, only son of Mr J. Lough, Wai-iti Road Timaru, was the bridegroom. The Rev. W McNeur officiated, the orgams being Mrs F. Malcolmson. The interior Of the Church showed floral decorations arranged effectively, by friends. During the signing of the p'eHect Betty Pardy, Timaru, sang O Pertect L °The bride’s gown was fashioned of ivory soft satin, closely moulded to the hips, then flowing gracefully about her feet. An enveloping tulle veil was arranged by sprays of orange blossom, and fell a long train. She wore also 1 a rose-tinted crystal necklace, and cai : ried a bouquet of Easier liiies and rose buds The bride was attended by hei i sisters. Miss Nina Oed and Miss Dons Oed Their frocks were made with fitting bodices, featuring capelette sleeves and skirts relieved by centre panels of frills which also bordered thflared widths opening about then- feet Juliet caps of embroidered silk lace were of the same shades as their frocks and they held bouquets of pink rose buds and carnations. Two small girls. Shirley Birdling and Dorothy Timmins, cousins of the bridegroom, bridal train, their pretty ankle-length frocks of peach pink and f georgette being replicas of the brides maids' frocks, while their tiny Victorian posies were of carnations Mr Jack Marriott, of Timaru, carried out the duties of best man. Mr J. Oed was groomsman. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the residence of the bride s parents, where Mr and Mrs Oed received their guests, the latter wearing a graceful frock of nigger brown silk, relieved with a beige coloured vestae and a brown hat. Her bouquet was of flame-coloured zinnias. Mrs J. Lougli, w-ore a becoming ensemble ol lido-blue shade, with hat to match, and carried cerise carnations. When Mr and Mrs J. R. Lough left by car on their wedding tour, the bride donned an attractive frock of chanel blue celanese. worn w’ith a corduroy cloth coat furred with skunk, and a hat In the same blue shading:.
