United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 5, 8.30 p.m.) LONDON. May 5.

"The Daily Express” says that a Senor Cierva, at an auto-giro demonstration, astonished the Air Ministry by taking off after a run of under five yards. He hovered at a height of 100 ft and then flew at a speed of 100 miles an hour, when he throttled the ’plane and dropped vertically to about 12ft from the ground, when he opened out and continued the flight.
