To Test Eggs.—Often we would like to know if eggs are fresh. Well, this is a sure way of telling. Fill a jar with clear water and then drop each egg into it. If the egg lies flat at the bottom it is new-laid. A slight tilt shows that it is three weeks old, and the higher it rises in the water the older it is.

To Clean a Porcelain Bath or Sink.: Pour half a cup of kerosene and half

a cup of vinegar in the bath or sink; then rub with a cloth, and stains and grease disappear like magic. Finally, rinse with clean water and polish with a dry cloth. By using this precaution each week your bath will be like new. A cloth dipped in this mixture will arid clean enamel, on stoves.

To Clean Panamas.—Tire cheapest and most efficient way to clean a panama hat is to rub it gently and evenly wi;th an art-gum rubber. This, being , soft, does not harm the straw'. To Keep Ice.—To cave the ice in hot weather make a sling of two or three thicknesses of butter muslin. Fasten it in the ice chest with small tacks and place the block of ice in it, seeing that it does not touch anywhere, but is suspended in the sling. The ice will last twice as long as when it is resting on the chest bottom.

A Sleeve Hint.—To turn long, tight sleeves into the new puffed ones cut off your sleeves liin to 2in above the elbow. Split up your short sleeves in three places and inlet godets from the part you have cut off. Gather the sleeves into narrow bands and wear them puffed out just above the elbows. KEEPING PARSLEY. Frequently in an emergency it is discovered that there is no parsley in the house. Even with care parsley soon withers, and if it is kept in water it does not remain fresh for more than two or three days. It may, however, be preserved for use in the following manner. Place a bunch of parsley, after removing the stalks, into a saucepan of hot water and allow it to simmer for several minutes. Remove from the water, drain, and place in a fairly hot oven for a few minutes. Finally store it in airtight bottles for future use. Always rinse the parsley well before use after removing it from store.
