ART EXHIBITION.
A most interesting Exhibition of Local Art is now showing at the Canterbury Farmers’ Departmental Store. The Exhibition consists of examples in water-colours, oil-colours, pastels, etchings. posters, art embroidery and needlework by local amateurs and students of the Timaru Technical College. The exhibits show considerable promise by the young students under the tutelage of the art master at the College. Etchings and water-colours from overseas by local amateurs portray some delightful effects of the countryside. In all the exhibition offers an opportunity to the public to view modern art by local people, and shows considerable enterprise by the management by fostering art in South Canterbury. A large collection of British posters is also on view, lent by H.M. Board of Trade (Overseas Branch), London, through H.M. Trade Commissioner, Wellington.
