WOMEN’S DIVISION
ALBURY BRANCH. The May meeting of the Albury branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held last Tuesday evening. Miss Fraser presided over a large attendance of members and others. A card of thanks for sympathy was received from Mr Clark and family. The president extended thanks to Mrs McLean and others for rendering services in connection with the dinner table for Mr Burnett’s trophy at the Fairlie Show. The president remarked on the very fine display of tables. The points in connection with this were handed round for members to inspect. Quite a number of members wished to procure badges, and there was a keen inquiry for the new edition of the guide. Some very fine work came forward for the competitions. The results were as follows:—Worked guest towel—Miss Mellwrick first, Miss O’Reilly and Mrs McLean (second, equal). Plate of pastry—Mrs McLean first, Mrs I. H. Smith and Miss Marshall (second, equal). The competition for June was arranged for knitted article from not less than three skeins New Zealand wool and plate of shortbread. Mrs Cox was appointed to take charge of the competitions. Mrs W. Fraser consented to look after the sales table. Miss Fraser was appointed to represent the Albury branch on the Shop Committee. A vote of thanks was passed to Mi’ Austin for acting as auditor. The president then took the opportunity of introducing Miss Reilly, who delivered an address on dramatic performances. Miss Reilly was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Supper was dispensed and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
