LUCKY ESCAPE OF 1500 PASSENGERS. United press Association—By Electric Tel egraph—Copyright (Received March 26, 6.30 p.m.) SEATTLE, March 25. The American Mail liner. President Madison, capsized at her mooring in the harbour here on Friday night, and slowly filled with water. Three of the crew are missing, trapped in the hold. As the liner tilted, 1500 persons aboard quickly clambered over the side to safety. Attempts to fill the ballast tanks after the plates of the hull had been removed are believed to be the cause of the accident.
