WELCOMED BY BIG CROWD AT GISBORNE. Sy Telegraph—Press Association GISBORNE, January 18, Blue sky, a calm day, and sweltering heat met Sir Charles Kingsford Smith on his arrival at Gisborne at 2.50. On landing at Waikanae beach, tlie airman was greeted with enthusiasm by a crowd estimated at 10,000 to 12,000, the largest ever seen at Gisborne. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith was welcomed by the Mayor (Mr Coleman, M.P.). the presidents of the R.S.A, and Aero Club. The remainder of the afternoon was devoted to commercial flying.
