MIDNIGHT ROBBERY

MAN BLINDFOLDED AND BOUND. By Telegraph—Tress Association. WELLINGTON, September 30. Awakened at 1 o’clock this morning by someone entering his bach, at Haywards, in Hutt Valley, Mr W. A. Cowell, manager of the Cottleville Dairy, was attacked and blindfolded, and not being in good health, was unable to prevent himself being bound. He feigned unconsciousness, and the intruder stole £7 11s from a desk. The whole affair took place in the dark. After the man left Mr Cowell got free and gave the alarm. The police later arrested Alfred James Gorrie (20), at his place of residence at Belmont, and he was charged with breaking, entering and theft, and remanded. It was stated that the money had been recovered from a hiding place on the roadside.
