TO-DAY’S ROAD RACE. BIG ENTRIES RECEIVED. Very large entries have been received for to-dav’s cycling road race from Waimate to Christchurch, 137 riders from all parts of the Dominion having forwarded nominations. The course is from the Post Office. Waimate, to the Show Grounds at Addington. via the Hinds Road, a distance of 143 miles. During the progress of the race, competitors will be issued with milk at Timaru, Rangitata. Ashburton and Dunsandel. The first batch of riders is scheduled to leave Waimate at 7.45 a.m.. and should pass through Timaru at about 9.20. The three scratch men, H. G. Watson (Marshland). W. J. Lamberton (Christchurch) and H. J. Crofts (Christchurch) arc conceding the limit men an hour and a half, and they will not leave Waimate until 9.15. It is expected that they will reach the milk station at the Grand Hotel corner at about 10.30. The result of the race should be available at about 4 p.m. During the day progress reports of the race will be posted outside the ’•Herald” Office.
