ANOTHER SHAKE
HEAVIEST SINCE SEPTEMBER 18th. By Teleeraph—Press Association. WAIROA, Sept. 29. Wairoa suffered the heaviest earthquake since September 16th, just before eight o’clock this morning. Buildings shook alarmingly, causing the occupants to rush outdoors. The shocks increased in intensity, gradually diminishing and lasting a minute. They caused considerable nervousness among the community. No extensive damage is reported, but the electric power lines In country districts were damaged considerably. It is reported that the ’quake was very heavy at Tukemokihi, a number of chimneys crashing and also causing internal damage. No heavy shocks have been experienced since then. GISBORNE FEELS IT. WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, September 29. The heaviest earthquake since September 16th was experienced in Gisborne at 7.45 this morning. The shock lasted lor about one minute, and was of the swaying type. No new structural damage of any extent is reported, but cracks in many buildings widened. The Borough water supply was interrupted, the pipeline from the headworks being broken, and the water supply was cut off for about six hours.
