GOLF
NEW ZEALAND WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. TO BE PLAYED IN TIMARU NEXT MONTH. The event of the golf season, as far as South Canterbury is concerned, will take place at Highfield from October 6th to I3th when the New Zealand women’s championship tournament is to commence. Thirty-six entries have been received for the championship, while a hundred women golfers will contest the various competitions played in conjunction with the championship. The holder of the championship, Miss Betty Gaisford (Manawatu) will defend her title, while other low handicap players present will include i Miss Oliver Kay and Mrs H. Dodgshun - (Otago).
