ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
GAME IN SCHOOLS. By Telegraph—rr-ess Association WELLINGTON, April 9. Three applications for loans were made to delegates attending the annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association. Auckland asked for £I2OO for Blandford Park, Canterbury for £IBOO for English Park, and Mosgiel for £3OO for ground improvement. The applications were dealt with in committee, receiving a very sympathetic hearing, and were referred to the New Zealand Council. Special attention to school football was given by the delegates. Auckland and Otago supplied information showing that the code was flourishing there both in the primary and secondary schools. Delegates from other places, except Southland, showed that various degrees of difficulty existed in getting the game into the schools. This was particularly the case in Wellington, whose delegate, Mr Hicks, said that the time had come when there should be some method of demanding
as a right that the game should be recognised. Mr Ritchie (Auckland) stressed the necessity of getting the game into the schools. He outlined the steps taken in Auckland, and stated that there were twenty primary and twenty secondary school teams playing there.
