UNEMPLOYED BOYS.

MR CONNOLLY’S SCHEME NOT ACCEPTED. By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, March 23. Being of opinion that the Cheviot Hills estate, a portion of which was recently offered by Mr J. Connolly, M.P., for use as a farm training centre for city boys, is unsuitable for the purpose, the committee set up by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to consider the matter has decided that it cannot approve of it meanwhile. In response to overtures made by the Committee, the Unemployment Board has agreed to extend the No. 7 scheme to place 50 lads on Canterbury farms, granting each boy an allowance of five shillings weekly.
