SHEEP BUYERS.
CORRIEDALES FOR JAPAN. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, February 9. Two representatives of the Japanese Government, Messrs Hata Keyama and Y. Ono, accompanied by Mr K. Shimada, agent for Messrs Nosawa and Co., Tokio, arrived by the Maunganui to-day. Their mission is to buy stud sheep ror the Japanese Government. For fifteen years Japan has been regularly buying sheep from Australia, and it has now decided to extend activities to New Zealand.
Mr Shimada said they would buy Corriedales only, as they were the most suitable for Japanese conditions. They intended to buy about 300, and if suitable, it was likely that all buying in future would be confined to New Zealand. He refused to comment on the SlnoJapanese trouble, beyond saying that a great deal of propaganda had been published.
