OUTLOOK IN BURMA
PROGRESS TOWARD RESTORED ORDER. British Official Wireless (Received January 27, 5.5 p.rn.) RUGBY, January 26. The Government Burma’s report on the situation for the week ended January 23, states that satisfactory progress continues. Further surrenders and the captures of the remaining leaders are taking place. In the Pegu district a small party of civil police was fired on in the jungle, wounding the head constable, who has since died. No other casualties are reported. Sixty-eight prisoners under trial were released. The number remaining in custody is 584.
