MEN ARRESTED WITH SYPHON. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, January 23. Two detectives hid in a quarry at Mt. Roskill last night, and at 2 a.m. heard a motor truck arrive. Lying in the grass they watched two men walk to a benzine store. The detectives waited and then crept up and surprised the men preparing to siphon benzine from a drum. At the Police Court Harry Lav/rence McQuoid (36), and Walter Alexander Amos Scott (28) were charged with stealing benzine on January 20, and 22, and attempting to steal it to-day. They were remanded till Wednesday.
