Briand has agreed to stand for the Presidency, following an invitation from a strong delegation representing the Left Parties of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. It is stated that M. Briand will also receive the Catholic vote. A delegation later interviewed M. Doumergue. M. Painleve appealed to them not to submit a candidate.
