ROBBED IN SIXTY SECONDS.
COUP BY GERMAN YOUTHS. In broad daylight on December 29, three youths, armed with revolvers raided a branch of the Deutsche Bank in Lindenthal, a suburb of Cologne, and escaped with £750. While one of the youths stood guard over the entrance, the second covered the two bank officials on duty and a customer. The other youth jumped over the counter and seized all the notes and cash lying in the open safe. One of the officials, who dashed into another room to give the alarm, was fired at. The bullet passed harmlessly through his coat sleeve, ricochetted off a radiator and struck the other official on the chest, but without causing him serious injury. The raiders then escaped in an expensive motor-car. From start to finish the whole affair occupied little more than 60 seconds. This was the third daylight bank robbery in the suburbs of the city in the past few weeks.
