The Palermo correspondent of “The Times,” states that splendour, hardly surpassable, had they been heirs to the reigning house, marked the wedding of Prince Henry, son of the Duke of Deguise, pretender to the French throne, with Princess Isabel of Orleans, and Braganza, who is a distant cousin. There could not have been a more brilliant scene, and the guests more distinguished. The ceremony was most imposing. Scores of European princes, and princesses were present. The British Ambassador to Italy represented His Majesty. No fewer than 800 French Royalists arrived in a specially chartered liner. By special permission of the Pope, the Cardinal Archbishcp of Palermo officiated. Richly dressed guests thronged the Cathedral interior, which v r as bedecked with antique. tapestries, bejewelled vessels and rich vestments. Outside there was a cordon of troops and uniformed Fascist militia. At the luncheon seven hundred guests were served in the grounds of the palace at Daumale, the centuries old Palermo home of the Orleans family.
