UNEMPLOYED IN U.S.A.

Session Of Congress Demanded. SERIOUS POSITION DEVELOPING United Press Association—By Kectrl* Telegraph— Copyrignt (Received March 22. 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 21. A demand that the President should call a special session of Congress to deal with unemployment, as a result of the Department of Commerce’s announcement that 50.000 to 60,000 persons were unemployed in January, was made by Senator Borah to-day. The so-called progressive Senators of both parties supported Senator Borah, claiming that the figures indicated that 20,000,000 persons, comprising the families of those unemployed, are suffering from the situation. The progressive group warned the President that: “To wait until Congress is convened for the regular sitting next December will bo too late to avert the worst disaster in our history.”
