WORK FOR BLIND GIRL.

The first blind girl to be employed in a Government office is Miss Violet Harper, aged 20, of Beckenham. She has been appointed shorthand-typist at the office of works at Whitehall. She was educated by the National Institute for the Blind which presented her with a Braille shorthand machine upon which she is able to write at a speed exceed ng one hundred words per minute, after which her notes are transcribed on an ordinary typewriter.
