CASUALTIES.
DEATH AT SERVICE. By Telegraph— Association NELSON, March 8. John McCallum, of Fairhall, Blenheim, a farmer; died suddenly while attending a Plymouth Brethren service this morning. ARM TORN OFF. By Telegraph—Press Association ASHBURTON, March 7. Percy Wills (26), single, is in a serious condition in hospital. His left arm was tom off when his hand got caught in a fat cutting machine at the Fairfield Freezing Works this morning. ROAD ACCIDENT. Roy McClimont is also in hospital in a serious condition with a fractured skull. He was picked up at Dunsandel by a service car this morning in an unconscious condition. Apparently he fell off a motor cycle. His address is unknown.
By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 7. As a result of a premature explosion at the Tawa Flat tunnel shortly before 5.30 this morning, three were injured: W. Tucker (51), wounds on the face, injuries to the back; address, Mount Street. F. Parker and R. W. Stewart (address camp, Glensiue), wounds to the face and hands. These two were able to proceed to their homes after the wounds were dressed at Hospital. Tucker is not on the seriously-ill list. All three were working in the pilot drive, putting in a charge, which went off before they were ready for it.
