The Invercargill Trotting Club’s annual meeting concluded to-day in fine weather before a decreased attendance. The track was in good order. The totalisator handled £Bl3l/10/-, compared with £12.422 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £18.032/10/-. against £27,117 in 1930. In the Murihiku Handicap, the stewards reversed the judge's placings on account of Cathedral Rose galloping I past the post, a nose ahead of Patchwood. Twenty horses are still left in. Glare worked usefully at Caulfield to-day, and looks well. Parkwood, Greenline, Mollison, Spanish Galleon aiid Unibertana are among the acceptors for Saturday’s Leonard Stakes. Waterline and Myst’.c Peak may oppose Phar Lap in the C. M. Lloyd Stakes. Induna beat Nadean easily over ten furlongs in 2.1 li at Caulfield to-day. Parkwood ran five furlongs in 1.53, and St. Mary twelve furlongs in 2.425. RICCARTON TRACK WORK. The weather was fine for training operations at Riccarton yesterday, Theie was some interesting work by horses with engagements at Motukarara on Saturday. Spoon galloped nine furfongs by her self, registering lmin 57 4-ssec. aa.iL i-hess ana jatraigrucourse occupied 2min 2sec for nine furlongs, with not much between them at the finish. Craigavon was going a little better than Jason’s Quest at the end of five furlongs, in 1 nfcn 3 3-5 sec. Jaloux and Azalea were given useful work. Full Feather and Sailor’s Love coverer seven furlongs in lmin 33sec, without being hurried, and Winsome Hind was given a working gallop over six furlongs. CricKet Bat beat Zeebrugee over five furlongs in lmin 3 2-ssec. Solwit and Royal Love sprinted half a mile in 49 3-ssec, a smart performance.
Solvent sprinted three furlongs in 38sec, Limerick running over the same ground in 39sec, while Taragona took lmin 19sec for six furlongs. Giggleswick beat Miss Bradbury over seven furlongs in lmin 32 4-5 sec. Diable covered three furlongs alone in 38sec.
Parysia easily defeated Lambent over half a mile in 52sec
Huntley beat Elude over five furlongs, which occupied lmin 6sec, while Gasrange defeated Verden over the same ground in lmin ssec.
Charmeuse and Shatter were associated over five furlongs. Charmeuse had a narrow margin in her favour at the finish. The time was lmin 2 2-5 sec, the best of the morning for the distance.
Pixie Gold registered lmin 3 2-ssec for five furlongs, and finished on well. Battle Queen occupied lmin 5 3-ssec for five furlongs. She showed a lot of speed in the early stages, but occupied 40 3-5 sec for the last three furlongs. Coll ran six furlongs in lmin 18sec. This was a good gallop, as he carried a good weight. Semper Paratus and Some Acre covered seven furlongs in lmin 32sec, the former being half a length in front at the finish and apparently holding his companion. There was not much between Topere and Appeal at the end of six furlongs, In lmin 18 3-ssec.
Coroner covered six furlongs in lmin 18sec, being joined by Synonym for the last three, which they ran in 38 2-ssec.
Fiaxbird occupied 53sec for half a mile by himself. Adelphi covered six furlongs in lmin 18 3-ssec, and finished strongly. Thorndale and Homecoming sprinted three furlongs up they back in 37 4-ssec. Decisive and Good Catch were companions in useful work, taking 41 3-ssec for the last three furlongs. Sapient reeled of five furlongs in lmin 3 1-5 sec, a very smart effort.
Miss Mercia occupied lmin 19sec for six furlongs, and appeared to be stopping at the end. Loc.hard. Marfich Felluce and Weatherly sprinted half a mile in 50 l-ssec.
Mineral covered a mile in lmin 43 3-ssec. with a novice stable-mate to bring him home. He ran the first five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec, and the last three in 39 l-ssec. Sharp Thom and Idolize ran half a mile in 50 l-ssec, attractively. Sleipner occupied lmin 34sec for seven furlongs, taking 52sec for the last half-mile.
2 Knockany was a little better than 3 Gay Nita at the end of a half-mile - sprint, run in 50s*c. Waiwene led Convoy over half a 1 mile up the back in 49 3-ssec. Waiwene, who will have her first race in the Motukarara Juvenile Stakes, went pleasingly. Arrowstick beat Spinster, over five furlongs in lmin 8 2-ssec. taking 54 . 3-ssec for the last half-mile. Fortune’s Wheel and Star Raid ran five furlongs in lmin 4 2-ssec, with not much between them at the finish. 4 2 TIMARU TROTTING CLUB. L HANDICAPS FOR AUTUMN MEETING. Acceptances for the Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting are due at 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Mister Pointer won on each day of the Invercargill meeting, and has won five races in succession. His next appearance will probably be made at the Timaru Trotting Club's meeting. Fatchwood, who is telegraphed among the limit division on 3.50 in the Kingsdown Handicap at the Timaru meeting, was awarded the stake off 3.48 at Invercargill yesterday, registering 3.41 4-5. The Hororata Racing Club and the Amberley Racing Club propose holding a special combined meeting at Riccarton on Amberley’s date, May 2. The permission of the Minister is being sought. Mr Wm. Gardiner, president of the Oamaru Jockey Club, was taken seriously ill after presiding at a meeting of the Club, and attending a local body meeting, at the end of last week, and his condition is reported to be grave. The Stratford Racing Club, which has been granted an extra date for April 23; has taken over the vacant Hororata permit. The North Canterbury Racing Club was offered the permit, but declined to accept it when the Racing Conference refused to allow more than two trotting events to be included in the programme.
