TIDAL WAVE.

SMALL ISLANDS AFFECTED. United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph— Copyright (Received December 30, 9.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 30. The Amalgamated Wireless has received a radio message from its Manus station, New Guinea, saying that the steamer Duris felt the earthquake. On the morning of December 24th., a tidal wave struck the Western Islands, at a height of Bft., at Awinn, and 4ft. at Pelluluhn. Houses and cattle at Awinn were washed to sea. The manager and boys escaped by climbing the palms. They are now living on the beach. The fate of Matty and Aua, a small unprotected Allison Island, is unknown.

The direction of the wave was from the south-east.
