DO YOU DANCE?
To be able to maintain a dainty and fresh appearance throughout a dance is the aim of every woman, since to become heated and flushed is detrimental to beauty, besides being uncomfortable in itself. By taking a few simple precautionary measures when dressing, it is possible to ensure that one shall look one’s best during the evening. 1 The face must never be steamed before dancing. It should be wiped over with a very weak lotion containing one part of borax to about three parts of water. No hot cups of coffee should be indulged in. The hands should be soaked in tepid water to which a special agent has been added. Powdered alum is excellent for the purpose. One large teaspoonful should be used to a pint of tepid water, and the hands must be kept in the solution for several minutes. Then rinse them in plain water before they are dried.
