EGMONT TRAGEDY

CORONER S REMARKS. By Telegraph—Press Aa*oclatJ«o STRATFORD. August 22. The inquest concerning the death of Lance V. Gibson, on Mount Egmont on August 4, while assisting to rescue an injured man, was concluded to-day, and a verdict was returned that death was caused by cold and exhaustion. The Coroner said the two men with deceased had done everything possible in the circumstances. While he said it was a laudable characteristic of British youth to take risks, he thought all precautions should be taken when climbing such a mountain as Egmont. He thought a combined effort should be made by the Committees of the Egmont Park Board and Alpine Clubs to make climbing safe.
