MAYOR’S COAL AND BLANKET FUND.
SUBSCRIPTION LIST.
SCOUTS TO ASSIST. The Timaru Scouters’ Association Is organising a “drive” in aid of the Coal and Blanket Fund. For five days next week, from Monday till Friday, Scouts in uniform will go from house to house collecting bottles and bags, which will be sold and the proceeds devoted to the Mayor’s Fund. The District Scoutmaster has arranged with Rev. H. T. Peat for the use of the latter’s telephone, and people willing to give bottles, bags, and clothing may ring 24, and Scouts will call for gifts. Gifts may be left at Mr Peat’s residence, 21 Butler Street. The Scouts have a market for goods collected, and the whole of the money will go to relieve distress. The District Commissioner has received a letter from Dr Fenwick, Dominion Chief Commissioner, commending the effort of the Scouts, and stating that he will mention it in his next letter to the Chief Scout (Sir R. S. Baden-Powell).
