The Queen has given to the London Museum a number of illustrated newspapers containing descriptions of her wedding with the King, then George, Duke of York, on July 6, 1893. The papers are from a collection formed by one of Her Majesty’s old servants, but they are not yet on view.

The Board of Governors of Columba College, Dunedin, their wives, and the staff, entertained Miss Frances Ross, M.A., the retiring Principal, at a very delightful party last week at the Somerset Lounge. After Mrs Cairney had presented the guests of the evening with a Victorian posy, the Rev. J. J. Cairney, Chairman of the Board, made the presentation of a gold wristlet watch, and told Miss Ross how much they felt the parting from her, as she had been the first and only Principal of Columba, and such a sterling one. More eulogiums were paid by Mr McDonald, of Ravensbourne, and Professor Hewitson, after which Mrs Ewing spoke as an old pupil, and as a present pupil’s mother, and Miss Ida White, on behalf of the teaching staff. Miss Ross’s reply was a very happy one, and from it could easily be seen the fact that nothing but the most harmonious relations had ever existed between the Board and herself. The speeches over, music, supper and chat were indulged in and enjoyed.
