THE AIR FORCE
EXAMINATIONS FOR COMMISSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 22. Candidates for commissions in the New Zealand Air Force, which are being allotted to club-trained pilots, will be examined as to their knowledge of aircraft and engines and air regulations, and will also have to write an essay upon some set topic. The examination will be a written one. Candidates must be over 18 and under 30 years of age, who have gained their “A” flying licenses, and who have matriculated. Those who are successful in the examination will, should they pass the Air Force medical tests, be granted Commissions in the New Zealand Air Force as pilot officers on probation. At the conclusion of the annual course of instruction, probationary pilot officers who obtain satisfactory reports will be confirmed in their rank. Pilot officers who fail to pass the prescribed examination for promotion to flying officers within two years from the date of appointment will normally be required to resign their commission as officers.
