LABOUR CONFERENCE

AUSTRALIA’S POSITION. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph- 'Copyright LONDON. August 17. Mr W. C. F. Thomas, the delegate to the International Labour Conference at Geneva, is conferring with Mr Charles Croft’s employees’ delegates, concerning the advisability of reporting upon the futility of Australia sending delegates to such Conferences. Mr Thomas said: “I realise that Australian labour conditions are so far ahead of other nations that Australia is unable to consider uniform international labour codes without retrogression, which is to ludicrous for serious consideration. Personally I intend to straightforwardly inform the Government that the sending of an Australian delegation is an unwarranted waste of money.”
