PAN-PACIFIC CONGRESS.
UNIVERSITY WOMEN MEET. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, (Received August 18, 7.0 p.m.) HONOLULU, August 17. Opportunity was taken of the fact that a majority of the delegates to the Women’s Pan-Pacific Congress were University graduates to arrange a group meeting of members of the International Federation of University Women. The meeting took the form of a Sunday breakfast on the wide verandah of the Honolulu Country Club, which is beautifully situated, commanding views over the golf links on one side and the sea and mountains on the other. Sixty-six graduates were present, and discussed the possibility of closer co-operation within the Federation. The Pacific group of Y.W.C.A. representatives are also holding group meetings. The programme for the second week of the conference includes papers by Dr. Ethel Osborne, on “Industrial Hygiene,” and Mrs Bertha Lindes (former Mayor of Seattle), on “Municipal Service.”
The most delightful of many parties given yesterday was that in the grounds of Mrs Frederick Lowery, where picturesque groups of Hawaiians, Filipinos and Chinese and Japanese children presented national ceremonies and dances.
