BIG WHEAT CROP.
AUSTRALIAN PROSPECTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 6. Mr F. A. Crago, a Sydney flourmiller, arrived by the Ulimaroa. He says the wheat crop prospects in Australia are the best on record. This will help the country a little, but while the quantity of the crop and its quality should be satisfactory, the price may not be as cheering in view of the big Canadian, United States, and Argentine crops. The 2i per cent tax imposed by the Scullin Government on wholesale sales, as from Ist August, is expected to have had an effect, and in Mr Crago's opinion is certain to add to unemployment, but its effect will not be noticeable for a few weeks.
