AERIAL SMASHES.
THREE PERSONS KILLED IN LAKE GENEVA. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received August 4, 7.0 p.m.) GENEVA, August 3. Three passengers were killed and a pilot-mechanic seriously injured when an aeroplane on the Lake Leman service was flying low. The right motor misfired, this upsetting the balance, and the right wing dipped and struck the water. Then the ’plane dived into the lake. Motor-boats rushed to the rescue and picked up the pilot-mechanic. A Belgian woman passenger, aged 42, despite her arm being torn off, crawled out from the cabin and swam until rescued. Later she died in hospital. The other victims were a married couple on holidays. JUMPED TO DEATH. AN OFFICER’S TRAGIC END. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyrignt (Received August 4, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, August 4. A Flight-Sergeant at Montpellier committed suicide by jumping from an aeroplane. A letter, in his pocket, indicated that the reason was unrequited love.
