ST HELEN’S HOSPITALS

ADMISSION OF MEDICAL STUDENTS. By Telegraph—Pres*; Association WELLINGTON, July 22. The question whether senior medical students should be- allowed to continue their observations in St. Helen’s Maternity Hospitals was discussed by a large meeting of Wellington women, presided over by the Mayoress (Mrs Troup). Doctor Agnes Bennett was the leading speaker in favour of continuance of the practice, holding that the late Mr Seddon who instituted St. Helen’s hospitals, would have been first to recognise the altered conditions of today. The scheme had been working satisfactorily for many years without a single complaint. Mrs Hay, daughter of the late Mr Seddon, reiterated the argument that the admission of students was against the expressd wish of the founder. A motion in favour of the admission of students was carried by 105 to 35 votes.
