INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FORMED. By TeJeg&ph— Press Assooiatlon WELLINGTON. July 22. At the International Conference at Copenhagen it was decided by Meteorologists to inaugurate a second Polar Year for the study of terrestorial magnetism and the aurora, investigation of the upper air. and general meteorological observations. A large number of European countries. Britain and America are participating, and New Zealand is included. A New Zealand Committee has been formed, consisting of the GovernorGeneral. Professor Coleridge Farr. Sir Joseph Kinsey. Mr G. Shirtcliffe. Dr. Marsden, Messrs E. Walsh. W. R. B. Oliver, and A. E. Hefford, professors Somerville, Benson, Burbidge, and Florence, and Dr. Kidson (convener). The Committee has formulated a tentative programme for New Zealand to carry out in the Antarctic.
