MART REPORTS.
THE RIALTO. H. Allchurch and Co. report for the week ended June 28: —At our weekly sale on Friday 50 pens of poultry were entered, while 10 pigs of various grades were yarded. Heavy table poultry was in good demand. Weaner pigs commanded high prices. Vegetables, and cauliflowers were quickly cleared, but cabbage was slow of sale. Large supplies of apples and pears came to hand. The best demand was for first grade dessert, but lines of poorlygraded and small were very slow of sale. Parsnips and carrots sold freely in sugar bag lots, and there was ready sale for good varieties of white table potatoes. Onions were cheap, but the market is rising weekly. Prices rea-. lised were as follows: — Poultry.—Hens, heavy, 4/- to 5/-, others 3/- to 3/6, cockerels, heavy 5/3 to 6/6, others 3/6 to 4/6, roosters 4/- to 7s, ducks 6s 3d to 7s 6d pair. Pigs.—Weaners 16/-, 17/-, 18/6 and 19/- each, stores 30/- each. Produce.—Wheat, broken 16/-. whole 22/6, potatoes 9/- to 12/-, swedes 4/to 5/6, sack carrots and parsnips 2/to .5/6 kit, potatoes to 3/6 kit, bacon sides and rolls 9d to 10id lb, onions 5/6 cental, 1/6 box, cabbage 2/- to 2/6 cauliflower 2/6 to 4/6 dozen, pumpkins and marrows Id to lid lb. Fruit.—Apples, dessert were 8/- to 9/- per case, other lines 4/- to 6/6 case, cooking apples 5/- to 9/-, inferior lines 3/6 to 5/- case, pears to 5/6 per case. 2/- to 3/- per half case, walnuts 8d to 9d per lb. Eggs.—Larger supplies of eggs are now coming forward. There was a fair demand, prices for the week being 1/11 to 2/- dozen. Preserved eggs 1/6 per dozen. Furniture and effects.—On Friday we disposed of a fair quantity of furniture and effects at satisfactory prices. At the same time we offered a quantity of roofing iron, and a clearance was effected. MORTON AND CO. Morton and Co. report for week ended June 28, as follows: —A good entry of furniture and sundries was forward for our weekly auction, and a good number of buyers being in attendance a very satisfactory clearance was made. Only a medium entry of poultry was penned, and high prices were realised. Eggs experienced a steady demand, and prices were unchanged. The market was bare of all citrus fruit last week, fresh supplies being due at an early date. Apples and pears were well supplied, and while choice samples were readily placed at fair values, inferior lines were hard to sell. Good sound table potatoes, vegetables, etc., were in good demand. Prices realised last week were:— Apples—Dessert, choice 5 - to 9 6, small samples 2/- to 5/- per case, cookers 3/- to 5 6 per case, pears. Winter Cole. 7/6 case, Winter Nelis 2- to 3/6 half case, cookers 3 - to 5/- case. Island oranges 16 - to 18/-, Poormans 14/6, New Zealand lemons 22/6 case, pie melons 2id to 3d lb, hot house tomatoes up to 1/- lb, w T alnuts 6d to lOd lb, cauliflowers 6/- to 8/- sk., cabbage 1/- to 2/- dozen, marrows and pumpkins Id to 2d lb, prime honey, 601 b tins, 6d lb, 101 b tins, 5/6, 21b pots to 1/4; bacon, hams and rolls to 1/3, fresh eggs. 2/- dozen, table potatoes 8/- to 10 - sk.. swede turnips 5 - sk.. onions 5 - cental, table carrots 2- to-3/6 kit, parsnips 5/- to 7/- cental, 1/6 to 2/6 kit, pickling onions to 6/- cental, chaff to 7/- sk. Poultry.—Pullets to 5/- each, hens 3/6 to 7 - pair, cockerels 4/-* to 7/6 pair, roosters to 6/- pair.
