MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Workers’ Educational Association, Mr R. Guinness presided over a fair attendance of delegates. The chairman welcomed Miss M. Peterson as delegate from “The Seekers” Study Circle. Correspondence was received from the Dominion secretary, enclosing the syllabus of classes for 1930 in Timaru. It was decided to commence forwarding financial appeals this month. The president reported that the Lecture Committee hoped to receive lectures from Rev. H. W. Monaghan, M A Rev. F. J. Shaw, 8.A., Professor J Shelley, Dr. R. R. D Milligan, Mr H Tripp, Mr A. J. Rae, and several others. It was resolved to send copies of the session’s syllabus to various interested societies and trade unions. The secretary reported that the class session would commence on Monday, May 5, with the “Economics of Unemployment” class, tutored by Mr P. J. Campbell, M.A. On Tuesday the “Social Psychology” class would start, under the Rev. P. Gladstone Hughes, 8.A., and on Wednesday, Mr A. H. McLintock, M.A., would conduct the Literature and Social Development class. The full syllabus for the three classes- would be advertised. The chairman extended a hearty invitation to members of the Association to visit the classes. He reminded them that some of the members of the Literature Class were taking part in “Legend,” a short play by Philip Johnson, at the opening of the Little Play House. Sundry accounts incurred to the amount of £l/16/9 were passed for payment.
